Peanut Chutney Powder
Peanut chutney powder is also known as shenga chutney pudi in North Karnataka. In North Karnataka, this chutney powder is generally served along with Jolada rotti(Jowar roti). It’s prepared using peanuts, red chili powder, curry leaves, garlic, tamarind, jaggery, and salt.

They are an excellent source of many vitamins and minerals like potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, B vitamins, etc. Despite being high in calories, peanuts are nutrient-rich and low in carbohydrates.
Peanut Chutney Powder
Peanut chutney powder is also known as shenga chutney pudi in North Karnataka.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Peanut
- 3/4 Tbsp Coriander seeds [Dhania]
- 1 Tbsp Cumins Seeds [Jeera]
- 8-10 leaves Curry Leaves
- 2 Tsp Jaggery
- 4 cloves Garlic
- 2 Tsp Salt
- 2 Tbsp Red Chilli Powder
Instructions
- Heat a pan or kadai and dry roast peanuts on a medium heat for 6-8 mins until it gets roasted well and brown spots appear on them. Transfer to a bowl and cool completely.
- To the same pan on medium heat, add coriander seeds and cumin seeds and dry roast for 2 mins. Add curry leaves, stir, and toss for 1-2 mins until they turn dry and crispy. Cool Completely.
- Into a blender/mixer jar, add the roasted peanuts, roasted spices, jaggery, garlic, salt, and red chilli powder. Dry grind it using pulse mode and blend to make it a medium-coarse powder.
- Mix it well and store it in an airtight container.
- Serve it with rice, thalipeeth, roti, or chapati.
Notes
- You can take the skin off of the peanuts before grinding into a medium- coarse powder.
